Privacy Policy

DNA & Dreams (yourdreams.bio) is built to be local-first. Your dream journal, uploaded DNA data, and generated content are stored in your own browser (localStorage) on the device you use. We do not run user accounts, and we do not keep a copy of your content on our servers.

What stays on your device

  • Your dream entries, titles, and notes.
  • Uploaded DNA files and the ethnicity / haplogroup results computed from them.
  • Generated images, narration, and video references you save.

Clearing your browser data, switching devices, or using private/incognito mode will remove or hide this data. Use the in-app export feature to keep a backup.

When data leaves your device (AI generation)

Some features are powered by third-party AI services. Only when you actively trigger generation, the minimum text or file needed for that feature is sent to the relevant provider to produce a result, which is returned to your browser:

  • OpenAI — dream analysis, AI images, voice transcription, ancestor and documentary text.
  • ElevenLabs — voice narration of documentary scripts.
  • Runway and Pexels — AI / stock video clips and starting-frame imagery.
  • Shotstack — optional MP4 video rendering.

These providers process the request under their own privacy and data-retention policies. We do not send your DNA file itself to image/text models — only derived, non-identifying prompts (e.g. haplogroup, ethnicity percentages). If you would rather nothing leave your device, simply do not use the generation buttons; the journal and DNA explorer still work.

Cookies & tracking

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The app stores preferences and your content in localStorage purely to make the product work. Basic, anonymous server logs (such as IP address) may be processed transiently to protect the AI features from abuse and to keep the service available; they are not used to profile you.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 16.

Your choices

  • Export your data at any time from within the app.
  • Delete everything by clearing the site's storage in your browser.
  • Choose not to use AI generation if you prefer fully offline use.
